- English Language Instructor
Position Summary:

AMIDEAST Tunisia seeks native or near-native university graduates with TEFL certification and relevant teaching experience to join our exceptional team of English Language Instructors. Our EL Instructors utilize learner-centric methods to provide instruction in General English, Business English, Test Preparation, and English for Specific Purposes (Medical, Legal, Aviation, etc.) to classes of 12-16 students. AMIDEAST provides EL training to young learners and adults alike, as well as provides bespoke off-site classes to a variety of corporate and institutional clients. Our public and contract courses run year-round, with peak periods in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Full-time instructors generally teach 20-25 hours per week, with two days off (not necessarily consecutive days), and positions are open at all of our locations in Tunisia. AMIDEAST provides regular professional development opportunities for our instructors, as well as the chance to participate in a wide variety of educational programming, such as summer camps around the country, teacher training workshops, conversation hours for students, and programming at one of our US Embassy-funded American Corners.

Responsibilities:

Course Delivery

Develops a thorough understanding of all AMIDEAST course offerings and ensures that each course delivered adheres to principles of adult or young learner language acquisition within a communicative approach

Selects materials and resources that engage learners as active participants, provide a variety of classroom activities, and integrate the four skills.

Prepare thorough lesson plans and all materials for each class, utilizing our online and physical resource library

Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance records for all classes

Provide student grades within 24 hours of course completion

Administration

Participate regularly in teacher meetings and professional development workshops

Provide regular feedback to the EL Coordinator to continually improve our programming and services

Maintain a monthly timesheet and submit to the Teacher Coordinator in a timely manner

Review and sign AMIDEAST Tunisia?s Child Protection Policy, as well as undergo mandatory CP Training when offered.

Qualifications & Competencies:

Required:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited intuition in the field of education, linguistics, or other relevant field. MA preferred.
Native / near-native English speaker
TESOL certification (CELTA, PCELT, TEFL) course of 100 - 120 hours with a teaching practicum
1 - 2 years minimum classroom teaching experience preferred
Experience teaching English for Specific Purposes highly desirable
Competencies:

Ability and willingness to adapt to a variety of audiences children, adults, professionals, etc.
Ability to work in a team and contribute to overall English language program success
Demonstrable attention to detail in presentation and organizational skills
Punctuality and timeliness in record keeping
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to create a productive, inclusive and safe learning environment


Salary and Benefits

EL Instructors are hired as Independent Contractors with an hourly rate based on degrees and years of classroom EL teaching experience, ranging from 28 ? 36 TND / hour. For Instructors hired from overseas, AMIDEAST provides a settling-in allowance, and assistance with administrative paperwork (residency card, work permit, reviewing housing lease, etc.)
